You look different
I don’t mean the way you appear
That is neither there nor here
I mean what lies behind your eyes
That which peers out of you
Perceiving the world
A sight beyond sight
Your heart watching as keenly as your gaze
You look different
And I can see it in you
Because I know I look different too
Though our meeting was fleeting
I think of you still
I wonder if you realise, or ever will
But I know what it means
To see a sunset with such eyes
Or the crash of a wave
A bird on the wing
A tree humming softly
A storm rolling in
A green that is greener
A blue that’s more blue
To dream with eyes open
To See a truth more true
If you were really looking
Were you?
And I think how sad it is
That most people
Only ever look
With their eyes
