An Unknown Wind

I hear you speak
You do not whistle you do not roar
Nor whine nor blow
You rise and fall
Like waves on the shore
What word to describe that voice

You speak in silence
When you fall quiet
Your message grows louder
More potent and pressing
More keen, profounder
So much conveyed with no noise

What else to do
But breathe my own little breath
What else to do
Amongst the life and the death
This short time of living
This time in between
No motion, all stillness
All middle, no extreme
How deeply have I learned
To keep doing, keep going
While my Soul cries for presence
And my body starts bowing
Too long I have wanted
For rest and repose
And now that I have it
In fear I oppose

Hear now, the wind speaks
Not a sigh nor a whoosh
And it says
Quiet child
For now that’s enough
Take a breath, take a beat
Allow things to feel dormant
Real change does not happen
All in a mere moment
Feel your fear and your worry
Let it all just wash through
For you know forces flow
They’re much bigger than you

Well may you feel the swirl of a galaxy within
The blazing light sear your heart
Wild energy sing
You may move to the pull
Of the moon or a star
But remember, too, how small and fleeting
You are
