Love Poetry

Broken Things

I found you lying in the sand
Your marred form calling to me
Mirroring the worn feeling of my heart
As I walked the sunny shore
All sorrow darkening inside

Now I think to leave you
Resting on the broken branch
Of a tree that once spoke to me
Of love and tenderness
Since fallen rendered

I observe you anew
As I carry you to your resting place
Far from the sunny gloomy shore
Thinking to leave you alone and forlorn
To echo the long closed journey of my love

You rest in my hand
Worn by life’s pressures
The constant moving wearing
Missing pieces like living loss
Like the embodiment of grief

No more a thing of perfect physical form
Bearing the marks of the passage of time
And the interminable shifting of matter
Your spaces yearning creating
An ethereal beauty

And I decide I will keep you
I will hold you against the wearing of the world
And with me you shall be whole
For that is your countenance
In my eyes
