As I Breathe
Sometimes I feel stuck. I lose my motivation and inspiration and just feel heavy. Then everything seems difficult, even when it really isn’t, even when a week ago, or a month ago, the same thing may have seemed easy.
Stuckness is something fairly commonly expressed by clients, and a compelling reason to seek therapeutic support. We all need assistance from time to time to unstick ourselves, to remember how to move.
Below is an example of Art as a Practice when I needed to be unstuck.
Sometimes A weight rests down on me And all my swirling moving Becomes still and stuck Frozen I am both restless and flattened The moving wanting to move The resistance exhausts Collapse The only flow I have Is the water of my body Out the corners of my eyes Resting As it runs its course Weaving through my being Clearing dirt and stones Release The weight withdraws Rising as I rise once more Relearning to stand Sometimes I forget that to be human Is to feel as I breathe In. Out. And let go.
